The first step in gaining people’s trust is by being honest with them. Once you lose your credibility, you can never take it back. So be sure you are consistently honest.
Transparency is part of honesty. If you give people information before they even have to ask, they will trust you more.
Not just listening, but active listening. This will show people you care. It also invites people to tell you things because they know that you are listening.
To practice active listening, you need to learn how to sit in silence. Enter a conversation with a clean slate, zero assumptions, zero bias, and just intently listen.
People won’t trust you if your values sway with the wind. Know your values, and stick with them.
